With all of the bad news in the world, we are not sure that we can take two good reports on the same day. However we are most happy to report that Bro. Kent Hovind will be released on home detention July 8 from the federal facility in Yazoo City, MS. He will be given a bus ticket and sent to his home in Pensacola, Florida. For the first time in nine years, after being shipped to twenty-five different prisons across America he will be able to sleep in his own bed. We certainly want to thank every person who prayed for him, made phone calls and gave funds for his defense and release. We also need to thank that one man at his second trial that simply refused to find him guilty and hung the jury, or he would be facing another twenty years in prison. We also thank the Lord for his legal team at the United States Justice Foundation for representing him before the court on May 18 when he was acquitted of all charges at his last trial.
We also rejoice that the IRS listened to reason and replaced the $10,000 plus that they had confiscated form the First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park, CA where Bro. Wiley Drake is Pastor. Bro. Drake’s problems started when he began championing Hovind’s cause on his daily TV program. However, as the old saying goes, “All’s well that ends well,” so for all involved we are glad to report a good ending for a change. Most of all, let us give thanks to the Lord for answered prayer.
